Sense International (India)

When Sense International (India) started its work ten years ago, there was only one programme for deafblind people in the whole of India — helping just 23 deafblind children.

Today, we are transforming the lives of more than 10,000 deafblind people — from isolation and neglect, to communication, interaction and self-esteem.

We work with 37 partner organisations in 19 states, and in the coming years we aim to have a professional deafblind programme in every state, so that no deafblind person has to travel more than a day to get specialist services.

In addition, we are helping to develop a national resource centre on deafblindness in Bangladesh, which will be the foundation for a national network of services in that country.
