Sense International (Romania)

Sense International (Romania) has made a huge impact on the lives of deafblind people since its inception in 1999.

Over the past eight years, our work has focused on improving the quality of life for deafblind people in Romania – children, as well as adults. We have developed programmes targeting deafblindness from various points of view: social, educational and medical.

Through our activities, we create the necessary tools for early diagnosis, treatment and intervention, we develop educational services for deafblind children and adults and we increase awareness at national level of their specific needs.

Today deafblindness is accepted as a distinct disability in government policy-making, and the estimated 6000 deafblind adults and 3000 children in Romania can more easily get the help they need to live active and happy lives.
