What we do
Sense International provides specialist education, training and support to deafblind people, their families and carers in developing countries.
Deafblindness can be a severely isolating condition, and in developing countries, poverty combined with limited health care, education and social support make it even more difficult for deafblind people and their families to cope.
As a result, many deafblind children and adults are institutionalised, kept in isolation or abandoned.
But with basic support and education, deafblind people can and do communicate, go to school, support themselves and become valued members of their communities. (Read Rajesh's story.)
Sense International makes this happen by strengthening the abilities of families, local organisations and professionals in developing countries to meet the needs of deafblind people in their communities.
